A climber and amateur artist contacted me last week, then visited my house to show me the above painting. It is of my friend Russell Braddock (a NZ mountain Guide) who got caught up in an avalanche in Chamonix and sadly is no longer with us. However Russell and I climbed a bit together and on one of his visits to Scotland he climbed with my friend Andy Nisbet and I and we took this photo of Russell climbing King Bee direct.... our photo was used as a template. The artists name is Douglas Spalding. You will be able to view the painting this summer as it is going to be displayed at Kingussie Railway Station.

This is a previously unrecorded climb but my friend Andy Nisbet is 100% sure its not been climbed before, we soloed the fist pitch on perfect plastic ice! |

Slightly more technical so we got the rope out and roped up, mixed climbing, frozen turf and torqued ice picks in rocks can be unpredictable at times. |

Andy over the last technical move, then we soled to the top in strong winds. |

A pretty good day really even if the winds were strong and the temperature is rising fast! |
