Oberstdorf: Fellhorn

Oberstdorf was Andrel Heckmair's town of birth. He has many good climbing ascents  including the Eiger North Wall and  he was involved in planning some great paths here. 'Its not the technical difficulty but the experience that is important'

Inquisitive sheep!

My twin brother Greg kindly paid the bill for a nice drink stop on or way down from the Fellhorn.

Creag Dubh, Newtonmore.

Creag Dubh  is one of Scotland's largest road side crags with over 100 routes at up to 100m in length.
it gives fantastic climbing on  mica schist with horizontal strata with flat holds on steep exposed rock with  spaced protection.
The views are superb.

Andy Nisbet on Phellatio (yes, we are not allowed to give rock climbs names like that that anymore!) Although A Ewing and  I McEacheran were permitted to on their first ascent in May 1965. Graded HVS 5a

Peak Performance, Flacons de Sel,

Peak Performance photo shoot!

Lydie looking cool, perhaps I should encourage Mountain Equipment to use more white. We would be invisible in a Cairngorm while out!

Lydie Lanza of Peak Performance, also climbing was  Emmanuel Renaut, the 3rd ever Michelin chef. He climbs incredibly well too! Visit his restaurant Flacons de Sel, Megeve.

Arete des Cosmiques

Ray having just climbed the Arete des Cosmiques

Jiles ditto!

David Green another  BMG Mountain Guide

Also met Yashiro Hanatani, who ( with his climbing partners Tatsuya Acki and Hiryoshi Manome) was awarded a Piolet D'or for their first ascent of the south pillar of Kyshar  in 2012. It was ace to see him again!
